Restaurant Yuan has such a warm, inviting feel that it made the whole meal even better. The food really delivered too, with bold, authentic flavors that tasted carefully made rather than overdone. You can tell the ingredients are fresh from the first bite, especially in the vegetables and other lighter dishes that still had great texture and flavor. Everything tasted clean and vibrant, which made the whole meal feel high quality. The service made us feel comfortable right away, with the staff being friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed. They seemed happy to have us there, which gave the whole dinner a really pleasant, relaxed vibe.

Restaurant Yuan is a hidden gem in NJ! The food is incredibly authentic—perfect balance of spice and flavor. Portions are very generous and prices are super reasonable, especially for the quality you get. Clean spot and friendly service. This is officially my new go-to place. Highly recommend!

First time here, drove in from Queens for dinner with friends, and it was worth the trip. The Honey Walnut Shrimp had fresh, springy shrimp with a light crispy coating, and the candied walnuts stayed crunchy instead of going soft in the sauce. The Steamed Sea Bass was clean and tender with no fishiness, and the ginger-scallion soy sauce was well balanced rather than salty. We also had the Chongqing noodles and wontons in chili sauce, both nicely spiced without being overwhelming. Good mix of dishes for a group, and everything came out tasting carefully made rather than rushed. Already planning a return visit.

This isn’t your localized, watered-down takeout joint; it’s a deep dive into genuine regional culinary artistry. The absolute crown jewel of the menu is their Wrapped Paper Fish. If you’ve never had fish prepared this way, it is a sensory revelation. The fish is wrapped in specialized parchment paper and cooked with a mountain of aromatics, intense spices, and rich broth. When you open the paper packet at the table, a cloud of fragrant, steam hits you instantly. Because it is cooked inside the paper, the fish remains incredibly tender, juicy, and completely infused with the robust flavors of Sichuan peppercorns, garlic, and chili oil. The balance of heat, numbing spices, and savory depth proves how much respect the kitchen has for traditional cooking methods. Combined with a lively atmosphere and excellent service, Restaurant Yuan delivers a good dining experience. I will be dreaming about that paper fish until my next visit! A bit too spicy for me and it is worthy a try

I had such a satiating meal at Yuan that I am still thinking about it days later! The mapo tofu was the highlight for me honestly—rich, deeply flavorful with the classic Sichuan heat and numbing spice. It had a good amount of intensity to it with the most tender tofu ever! Mouth-melting! The sautéed bok choy was surprisingly fab too! Simple dishes can be such a hit or a miss. This one was particularly memorable coz of the crunch and garlicky flavor. Honestly, it’s the best bok choy I have had in a while now! The hot and sour soup was nice and comforting. The servers were friendly and kind. The ambience was earthy and contemporary. This place is good for families, friends or even date nights. If you are a Sichuan food lover, you have to try this place! I am definitely coming back to try more from their menu!!❤️
